The Five-dragon Palace view-site is of great importance in the development of Wudang Taoism, which was called the palace of efficacy in history. The famous ancient Taoists such as Yin-xi, Yin-gui, Ma- Mingsheng, and Chen-chuan all succeeded in cultivating themselves. According to the Annals of Wudang Mountain, during the beginning of 7th century B.C, there was a heavy drought, so the emperor Li-Shimin ordered Yaojian, the official of Junzhou to pray for rain. Yaojian succeeded and dispelled the drought. So the emperor issued an imperial edict to build Taoism temples, which was the starting point for royal families to build temples in Wudang Mountain.
In this view-site, there are a lot of remains of the temples, halls and palaces along the ancient road, from which you can sense their broad scope and great significance from that time.
There are many things of historical interest in this view-site, such as the Five-dragon Palace, Huayang Cliff, Hermit Cliff, Pray-realizing Cliff, Lingxu Cliff, Temple of Kindness and Stateliness, and also the biggest clay statue and bronze statue of Zhenwu.
There is also a national forest reserve here; therefore, it's a place well worth touring.
